As an avid participant in retail forums I recently was a panelist at the 2nd edition of The Indian Retail Forum organized by The Economic Times.
Contrary to what one might expect, it was an engrossing & enlightening discussion amongst the industry stalwarts on the various permutations & combinations of the traditional brick & mortar and the online format of retailing in India.
Indeed, it is time that both versions of retail business realize and evolve themselves to a higher platform whereby both leverage the strengths of each other to achieve economies of scale, while better targeting their consumer segments – All this would see several interesting business partnerships in the coming years in almost all sections of Indian retail business.
